How much to replace plasterboard ceiling and skim walls in kitchen?

Kitchen is approx 3 meters by 2.5 and the ceiling will need replaced and two walls skimmed. We're also thinking of adding insulation in the ceiling.

We're thinking of buying a house with a bit of DIY and I got quotes for a few jobs but £800 seems steep for this job, what do you think?

materials will be around £200, its a 2 man job unless you know a 3 handed plasterer
It could take 3 days to board and skim , they will have a van to run, tax to pay, and a shed load of expertise.
For £200 a day, sounds a fair deal to me.

They told me it'd take a day? From prices online it gave me the idea that this was quite a hefty quote.

3 days for 2 men to board and skim a small room? blimey, you have very low standards.

I agree that £800 looks punchy, I had 3 rooms skimmed and (including materials), took them 2 days and cost £660. They came back and reskimmed 4 small ceilings (including over the stairs) it took 2 guys half a day and cost £200 (including materials).
