Keeping food warm on a journey

Options
Apologies if this is not a good place to ask this question, but I can't quite work out which part of the forum would be best.

Next week myself and a few friends are helping another friend move house. As I have various dietary requirements I said I'd cook my version of paella and take it for us to eat at lunchtime. My question is, how to keep it warm for a couple of hours whilst on the move. Ideally I want to transport if in the pan which I cook it in and it does have a lid on. I was wondering if I put it in the enormous cool bag I have would that keep it warm? We can't reheat it as the microwave will no doubt be packed and knowing how disorganised my friend is I doubt it will be readily available.

Thank for any advice.

  • Unless your version is vegetarian, I think it would be a really bad idea to try to keep it warm for hours.

Paella is lovely cold as well as hot though, why not just have it cold?
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

those small portable fridges that also run on 12v have a heat as well as cool function, used one to keep sausage and bacon butties hot for a trip to the fabulous Mac loop in North Wales.

A towable field kitchen is a very useful accessory for days away:

Who packs a microwave when they move? Mine has never been 'packed'. All it needs is unplugged and the rotating plate wrapped in paper. It'll take a whole minute to organise to move it.

That'll be a lot better than risking food poisoning. Why don't you ask her to keep the microwave out until the last minute?
