Lidl wine offer - not as simple as it seems!

Lidl currently have an offer of £4 off their 'wine cellar' wines if you buy 4 bottles or more. The first time I bought them there was no £4 off. When I read the offer again, it said you have to buy them together with a special cardboard wine carrier which quotes the offer. Today I went into another branch and found the said cardboard carrier. Bought 4 more bottles, nearly paid and left, but happened to get into a conversation with a fellow shopper, which prompted the cashier to retrieve the carrier from my trolley to scan the bar code on it - otherwise no deal! The selection of wines is a bit different to the usual ones I buy elsewhere. Hope they are all as good as the one I have open at the moment!
