Car Wash

Washed my car in the drive for many years. Have now moved and no option to wash it myself. There is a car wash fairly handy, not used one before, but know they had a bad reputation for some time (i.e. ripping off ariels and the like).

Have they improved and safe to use now? I just want it clean and respectable, not into shining and detail work etc.

Other alternative is hand wash but that is not as convenient, but maybe worth it?

Thanks for opinions.

I would not go through an automated wash if you value your paintwork. Why not go along to a jet wash and do it yourself? Just take your own wash mitt rather than dragging their nasty brush over your car.

So why cant you wash it now ? I NEVER use auto matic car washes and i never underwrite illegal immigration and crime by using roadside washes.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

There are plenty of long established hand car washes around here. They all speak in strange tongues but I have no reason to believe they are illegal immigrants & they do a stirling job.

Life is too short to faff about washing a car - I normally go with the automated ones and they seem to do the job - I'm not the sort of person who would get "precious" about a car as it's a tool to get you from a to b.

Automated washers will scratch your paintwork (and wreck your aerial if it's the type you should have removed before starting).

I take watering cans out to my car using a folding suitcase trolley.

Worth keeping an eye out for charity car washes by the local fire station etc.

So change the oil. The paintwork isn't going to keep you running is it?

Wiping oil and dirt off my scanners doesn't make them work any better, but that doesn't mean it's not worthwhile.

I would much rather be out washing my car than sat in front of the TV for an hour!. Plus paying to use an automated car wash is not very money saving!.

Not really a fair comparison, but there we go.

No need to spend your life in front of the idiot box. The UK has plenty of things you can do without sitting in front of the TV watching mindless dross on ITV.
