There are soft searches available to give you an indication but there's always a risk regarding the accuracy of them. Have you tried any?

Nope leespot, can you please share with me what are those? can we try soft search for joint applicants?

I didn't look for joint applicants l only needed them in my name. £66k PA is a lot of money - could you not massively overpay the loan to lower it to an amount you have more chance of getting?
  • Try the MSE loan eligibility calculator which will give an indication of your chance of getting various loans.

Joint products can be a blessing and a curse - assuming you accept you would both be totally liable in the event the other could not or would not pay (if the loan is currently in your name then your wife would really be silly to accept a £22k loan which is in effect what she would do...)

Assuming all that has been discussed and agreed :) Some banks are more generous because they would have 2 people to chase, others seem to find it all confusing and will reject for no apparent reason. Even joint bank accounts. OH and I wanted a joint bank account for bills etc etc - both been with the bank for years, we earn *cough* well.. plenty lets say. Both have no marks on credit files and have a mortgage etc etc

Nope - can't have a joint account, we "didn't meet the criteria". But we CAN make the other a card holder on our accounts... which isn't what we wanted. So after 8 years of marriage we still have the same individual accounts because we just can't be bothered to battle anyone for a joint account.
