If damp work has already been carried out there may be a 10 year warranty still valid?

Tbh I'm wondering whether the work done was any use. For example if it's an old house without cavity walls, which should have lime plaster, and it has been renovated using modern plaster and paints then this can cause damp as the walls can't breathe.

I really hate these 'damp' posts.

90% are non-existant, based on dodgy meter readings.

Trouble is 10% are genuine. And then pin-pointing the actual cause of the 10% seems just as hit & miss.....

Sorry you hate the posts but i thought the idea of forums is to share knowledge. We dont always have the knowledge required and I've got some great advice from these forums. Theres always someone willing to give it, i hate posts when people give out when people like me as questions.

I wasn't critisising you, or your post per se. It's the whole 'damp highlighted in survey' problem I hate.

    I was highighting
    a) the frequency with which this same issue arises, due to the ridiculous surveying process, and
    b) the fact that so often it is a non-existant problem - the damp either does not exist or totally inappropriate treatment of it is recommended

And yes, I'm sharing my knowledge by highlighting this.

we renovate property for a living, older properties are prone to damp I'm afraid, it might only be 1 wall or just chimney breast, but a lot of 1930's or earlier homes have issues. Its not particularly expensive or difficult to sort, but it is commonplace.
