My wife and I want to go away in February 2017 for around 5-7 nights. We like beautiful remote, rugged coastline with perhaps a nice pub/restaurant within reasonable walking distance. Love nature and birdwatching.
If anyone can help us with some suggestions of locations, letting agencies/private letting with reasonable prices, good reuptations we will be very grateful as we are new to Scotland.
Thanks.

Plenty of choice on Unique Cottages. Where you choose depends how far you want to travel, but if you don't fancy the far north check out Fife. Anstruther, Crail etc0

In terms of general location I'd advise trying to travel as far north and west as you can (you really need to go past Fort William although Durness is probably too far).
The problem with that is, if you live in southern England, it's practically a two day drive to get there and another two days to get back. (We once drove back from Fort William to Norfolk in one day and wouldn't do it again).
If a pub or restaurant within walking distance is essential make sure there is one. A lot of the holiday cottages in the north-west seemed pretty remote and isolated to us.
And make sure you have very good waterproofs...
(Edit: This post wasn't intended to be negative! My wife and I have spent over 20 happy holidays in the far north-west since 1989 - when we could still climb Munros. The north-west coast and highlands give what I consider the best coastal and highland scenery on mainland Britain. And if you have the opportunity the cross-country drive from Inverness to Ullapool is stunning).0 -
Or as an alternative consider one of the southern islands.
Arran, Islay (where you can also do the short trip to Jura) or Mull (and Iona) great for wildlife. In February the Mull sea eagles should be about looking for nesting sites.0 -
I'd recommend Arran too. It's relatively easy to get too... if you don't mind boats.0

Does Kintail log cabin appeal to you ? Can't post a link but google it for website .0

Bear in mind that February can be pretty bad for snow/ice, and it's quite difficult to get insurance that covers your costs if you find you can;t get to a remote location because the weather is bad and roads are treacherous.0
