Android Streaming Music....

I've got a fairly large music collection on my Android phone a Galaxy S7 which I'd like to stream to a wireless speaker.

I'm finding it somewhat impossible. Google keeps DEMANDING that I upload all the tracks I want to stream to GooglePlay Music. It then DEMANDS that I enter my credit card details. I will NEVER EVER buy any music from Google but it claims its required to do this as a licensing requirement.

So anyone know how I can stream a track from my android phone to my wireless speaker without having to jump through Googles hoops? or have to pay for any additional apps etc
Thanks

  • If it's a Bluetooth speaker then I don't know what the problem is... connect to Bluetooth, play the music on your phone.

If it's not a Bluetooth speaker then you'll need a Bluetooth adaptor for it. If you're trying to get this onto a cloud-based service then you may need to turn your phone into a DLNA server with apps (or it might natively do this).

You could help us by saying what type of speaker system it is.

    Its a Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay A6.

I go to the music app on my phone (Play Music) then select the track then 'Cast' I then get the error "Can't play this song. To play the song, upload it to Play Music from your computer" Then it starts to ask for credit card details etc.
    Thanks.

    There is your problem,

Rather than use play music app, use the actual music player app on your phone.

Once you have your speaker paired, just play your track and it should output through the speaker.
No need for google to be involved at all

You don't need to give any credit card details to use 'Google Play'. Just log in with your google account. (Should be automatic on an android phone).
I don't have any music on my phone and use 'Google Play' to stream all my CD's that I uploaded, in the car or in the house, all free.
As others have said, if you don't want it then, uninstall 'Google Play' from your phone, or, 'disable' it in the app drawer. Then use another music player.

  • Ah, you're trying to use Google Cast - yep, that needs songs to be online (i.e. on the Google Play system). Your box supports Bluetooth - just pair it with your phone and then play the song on your phone. Don't cast the music.
  • Hey, thanks! Just downloaded the Samsung music app and all is now well.

    Bloody Google!
  • You didn't actually need to do that - you could have used the Google music player with Bluetooth. It won't force you to 'cast' (i.e. stream from the net)

Yup, just noticed that playing a track via the Google music player. Oh well I can now play music via my phone which is what I wanted.
    Thanks all!

Not knowing how to use something is different from that something being bad......;):D

If you do decide to cast (there are some limited benefits), then I suggest getting the app LocalCast. I'm pretty sure it can stream music and it's free in the most part. Some premium options you have to pay for.
