Hello everyone,
I recently had a thread about a HP AIO where the hard drives kept failing and asked for advice. Sadly, all I seemed to do was throw good money after bad so decided to call it quits and get something else.
I found a Dell Inspiron 3050 mini PC with upgraded RAM from 2GB to 8GB and an upgraded HDD to 750GB
Coupled with a 24" screen this is a little beauty BUT I have a small teething problem which is down to me and not the machine.
It has a 32GB SSD on which the OS resides (W10) and a 750GB HDD.
How do I manage / use this ?
I have only ever had PCs with one massive HDD and not two.
Any advice would be gratefully received as it is all new to me.

Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

What do you mean "How do I manage / use this", what's the actual problem you have?
I guess it'll be things like what to store on the SSD and what on the hard drive. I've not had a computer with both myself but perhaps it would be best to have software on the SSD and data on the hard drive, but others with experience of this type of set up might have more specific suggestions.0 -
I'd partition the 750 straight away and create a backup on say new 100gb partition, use the ssd for operating system and programmes so its fast to respond and the rest for docs, pictures, music and whatever else you store.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

^^ good advice.
I have a similar setup and i changed the default location of the documents and downloads folder etc to live on the big hdd, programs and OS on SSD0 -

I've gathered that, although I wouldn't have called it a "teething problem"
It's a teething problem because I've never had a PC with two separate drives before but I've used a PC for years. Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0
