Commercial Lighting (Bay lights) query.

Hi all

I guess this is a question for commercial lighting experts.

I am looking to assist a family member in upgrading the lights in his warehouse. He has had a chat with a lighting supplier and they proposed one of their own lights. My family member has no problem with the light that has been suggested but in moneysavingexpert style I have advised him to see if there are cheaper lights that do the same job.

Basically he is after some bay lighting in his warehouse. At present the current lights are over 20 years old. They are hanging from Steel girders at about 20 feet from the ground.

The quote from the manufacturer/supplier of the proposed light is here...

The luminaires you have installed have a delivered output (When brand new) of 16875lm as they are very old I am guessing that they achieve nowhere near this! 400w MBF lamp = 22500lm less LOR of 75% = 16875lm delivered output (when brand new).
The new LED luminaire I have proposed delivers 19154lm from 150w so will be much brighter in theory!
BEWARE...THE LIGHTS YOU REQUIRE MUST BE IP65 RATED (BECAUSE OF THE DUSTY ENVIRONMENT). PLEASE BE WARY BUYING SUB STANDARD CHINESE IMPORTS OR YOU COULD INVALIDATE YOUR WARRANTY.

    Hi

5 Dust Protected - Ingress of dust is not entirely prevented, but it must not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with the satisfactory operation of the equipment; complete protection against contact.

6 Dust Tight - No ingress of dust; complete protection against contact.

    IP54
Protected from limited dust ingress.Protected from water spray from any direction.

    IP65
Protected from total dust ingress.Protected from low pressure water jets from any direction.
Not knowing the environment it's difficult to say, but I would want IP54 or better.

Also the lights have a 'cone' of light that may be relevant if it is to shine onto workbenches, rather than just the floor.
