AMD ZEN released?

According to pcadvisor.co.uk the AMD ZEN is being released today.

Define released? Not seen any proper reviews as yet and how long before we can actually buy one in the UK?

I really need a new PC now and unsure whether to wait a little longer or go for the older AMD FX chip?

Reviews still seem to put the ZEN prices as fairly low, much lower than i would have expected for a brand new CPU.

AMD have an event for AMD Zen today.

Both AMD zen & Intel Kaby lake release next month.

If you really need PC now, get intel.
I've seen some cheap 4th gen i5/ i7 from Zoostorm on ebay. They are still better than old AMD FX.

What is your budget and main use for the PC?

Mostly basic stuff. Web browsing and a few basic programs where my old AMD dual core 5200 copes well enough.

But every now and then i need to zip and unzip large files. My PC seems to suffer with this. I also run VM's and sometimes a bit of 3D rendering and Freecad, 3D printer slicing software etc.

Zoostorm, strikes the sound of fear into me. Nothing included unless its absolutely essential. Why have a 400W PSU when we can throw away all the fans and fit a 200W one.
Who needs fans it can just throttle until it cools again.

How cheaply can i get an 8 core or thread CPU, MB and RAM?
I do not need Video or any other hardware.

FX8350 not even worth considering unless it is cheap 2nd hand.

Also, if you change motherboard, it is may need new OS if you've got OEM version.

    BTW, is your HDD sata?

Yes drives are SATA i run a raid setup on a pair of 250GB drives and i also have a fairly new SSD. Which didnt really add any extra performance over the RAID setup. Maybe the drive is faster but my MB is the limiting factor?

8350 is approx 3150 at the moment isnt it? That seems to have dropped in price where the 8320 has stayed around the same level.

Are the i5's a straight 4 core or is there one with HT also? Or is it just the i7's with 4 cores and HT?

I have windows 7 ultimate and have resisted the windows 10 changeover. Wise choice it seems with reports of MS installing unwanted apps masked as updates.

£320 for an i7 4790K I would like the whole thing for that with a billion gig of RAM or 16 if possible.

Sort of limits me to the AMD offerings though unless i drop down to a 4 core?

So many choices, How will the onboard video of the Intel CPU's compare woith my GTX750 (ti)? cannot even remember if its the ti model?
