Lumie Sunrise Clock

Hi everyone

Just bought a Lumie Bodyclock. I have just tested it and the light doesn't come on gradually over 30 minutes - it comes on like a dimmer switch being switched on in the room! I bought it to wake up slowly in the mornings and the box says "gradual sunrise blah blah blah".

Has anyone else got one of these? If so, am I doing something wrong? :o

I don't quite know what you mean - do you mean it gets bright very quickly?

are you sure you've got it set for 30 minutes?

Not sure what brand mine is but I have a sunlight clock and usually have it set for 15 mins for sunset and 30 for sunrise - I'm always awake about 20 minutes in so it doesn't have to go up to full brightness... it is VERY dim to begin with so unless you have a dark room you may not see the early part, especially if you have it set to 15 mins... and are you setting it in the alarm mode or just using the demonstration mode?

    Sorry - I confuse myself sometimes :o

Yes it gets very bright very quickly. I am setting it on alarm mode. I will go off and re-test it in a very dark room. I've wanted one of these for ages so hope I can sort it out.

    Karrie,

I've got a Lumie clock, and you really don't get the real effect until you use it in true darkness.
    Gone ... or have I?

Thank you. I have sorted it now. It wasn't the clock, it was me! :o

How are you getting on with it? Have you found any benefit from it?

    glad you've sorted it Karrie

I love mine and have found I sleep much better using the sunset and the mornings are much more gentle and I'm more alert with the sunrise - although having a baby has kind of rendered it academic at the moment

So was it lighting up slowly after all? I'm interested in this kind of clock - my bedroom in my new place has a window that faces the sunrise (and thin curtains ;))

It's a very nice way to wake up, imo, but O/H is a bit more sensitive to light than me, and grouches about being woken up at 4 / 5am!

    So my plan...

    A clock like yours

    Lined curtains ;)
    My TV is broken!

I don't get any benefit from it in the summer, as I get up after it has become light (and have thin curtains too!).

At one point in the winter I was having to get up at 6am, and the clock was a godsend! You only realise how good it is if you switch it off before you turn on the light - the room that was full of light is suddenly pitch black again! I quickly learnt to turn on the light before turning off the clock!

The only time it doesn't work for me in the winter is if I have had a few too many drinks the night before ... but then I'd sleep through anything! x
