Parking fine for wrong location - Can I appeal, or do I ignore?

Comments

  • Hi,

Just another update, got the following letter dated 12/1/17

"Thank you for your communication regarding the above PCN, the time to challenge the charge has now expired and therefore access to the independent appeals service (if applicable) is no longer available.

However, in order to resolve this matter, I will offer he following comments as to why this PCN was correctly issued and is still payable.

    My findings:
The site in question is subject to terms and conditions, which are stated on signs through the area. Those signs state that all vehicles must be parked in an authorised manner.

On 1/9/16 the vehicle was parked in an unauthorised manner and a PCN was correctly and legitimately issued as a result.

    Legitimacy

I would like to make clear that Debt Recovery Plus Ltd is a legitimate debt recovery company and we are members of the British Parking Association and the International Parking Community. furthermore, we are enrolled on the data protection register and as such are authorised to request and handle the information in our possession.

    Registered Keeper Liability
As you failed to provide the drivers/hirer's contact details within the stipulated timeframe liability now rests with the registered keeper of the vehicle.

What you need to do now
Please ensure that £136 (reduced from £160) is paid by 26/1/17.

What will happen if you do not pay what you owe
If the amount is not paid by the date shown above, we will recommend to our client that court action be taken by them to recover the outstanding balance.

What if you do not agree
Although any correspondence that does not provide further evidence with be noted and retained, I cannot guarantee that we will reply

Do i just ignore? I haven't paid them!

    cheers lots!

that "my findings" letter is a template from DRP

ignore DRP, they are powerless and useless and can do nothing at all

the NEWBIES thread deals with DRP/ZENITH and other debt collectors

their "my findings" templates have been in use for years, which is why its easy to spot them

IGNORE , and DO NOT PAY those sc@mmers

if the PPC want to take it further, that is their decision and nothing to do with DRP

See the last paragraph of # 20!

    (They are debt collectors.)

See this thread on why you don't need to post about DRP:

  • Thanks all,

I won't bother you all again, it's just hard to know what to do and answers to the questions have been really helpful so thanks very much indeed

I do not understand, how can OP's wife lose? They are claiming the event took place in Newcastle, she parked in Leeds. I do not know all that much about Oop North, but I do know that they are a few hours away from each other.

Ignore that drivel. If you Google these words:

'Debt Recovery Plus My Findings parking'

you will see it is a letter they automatically churn out when people pointlessly write to them. Loads of people get that rubbish and really you shouldn't have bothered to write to DRPlus aka Zenith.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Interestingly just got a letter from Zenith :

    Without Prejudice
We are writing.... won't bore you with the rest as sure it's another standard letter.

Settlement figure has now been reduced to £80 - slashed by 50%!!!

^ correct, they are about 90 miles apart! Thing is, I have no proof the car was actually in Leeds and not Newcastle. Despite their clerical error, there is no proof other than a ticket on the cars window!

Guessing I don't reply to Zenith either?!

    cheers!

Why should you need any? They are accusing your wife of bilking in Newcastle, make them prove it.
