Thomson legal/ The Claim Team.com

My hubby has been contacted by this company a few weeks ago and after a search found out they were asking for £499! Up front so he told them to do one.
However he has been contacted again and this time no ££ up front (although a huge 35%commission on anything claimed back) I must add though he is ok with that as a self claim was unsuccessful.
They have sent through an email for him to provide an 'e signature' which gives them, as his agent the power to sign on his behalf including any legally binding contracts (according to the T's & C's)
It's at this point a small alarm bell started ringing so....
The question is what's the catch? As far as I can see they are a legitimate company.
Any help, as ever, much appreciated.

The catch is a) the vast amount of money they charge for posting a letter - they have NO special powers or back doors or tricks, they literally use the same FREE complaints process that you do and probably make it worse by sending in a pack of claims that may not even apply to you; and b) the fact they will charge you for wasting their time when they realise you have complained, been rejected and are time barred from another complaintSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

When you say time barred how long does it last? because he applied over 2 years ago and was told he had paid PPI but it was not mis sold. He can't remember ever agreeing to it.DEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0

It's barred for ever, you only get one go.
Unless you have some new compelling evidence?0 -

But it's not just that he is "time-barred", his complaint was simply fully and finally concluded forever two years ago. Neither he (nor any claim company) can ever make the same complaint again. Only if he found very compelling additional evidence not in the original complaint, would he have any hope of having the case re-opened.
A claims company is a waste of money at the best of times but, in your case, it might well have cost you money without anything to show for it.0 -
Don't go with this company I started a claim in October and rang them back next day as changed my mind as was given a 14 day cooling off period. They told me they would refund my money back on my card. It has been over 2 months and have rung them nearly every day and still have not had my money back0

Ask your bank to do a chargeback or similar depending on whether it was credit or debit card. Cite the fact you have cancelled the contract inside the 14 days (I hope you did that in writing with proof of posting not just verbal) and the company are not refundingSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
