My new Ni-MH charger does not take 9v batteries.
I have on oldish Ni-CD charger which does. Can I charge Ni-MH batteries in my Ni-CD charger ?
I have had a look online, which seemed to indicate that it would be ok, but I am nervous to try, I don`t want to fry the charger or start a fire.
If anyone knows about this I would appreciate an opinion.
TIA

Its unlikely to do either. NiMh has approx four times the charging capacity of a NiCd for an equivalent battery - So it will be very unlikely to overcharge on a NiCd unit unless there is something very wrong with it.
You will however likely need a much longer charge period for the NiMh cells, if they will charge fully at all.
Personally I upgraded my old multi charger to one of these earlier this year - Which does all main battery sizes plus phones/iPad/tablets.

You may find it a fiver or so cheaper on other sites.0 -
Thanks, I will buy a new charger.0

It will put some charge into it, but the battery wont last long because the charge cycle is different for NiMH batteries.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
