Refund on medical ground

We purchased some tickets for Cirque De Soleil in london for January for my mum for her birthday last week. However she has now been sent through the date for her Hip replacement on 30th December. Due to alot of other issues this will not be an easy op and the road to recovery will take alot longer than normal so she wont be upto travelling 3 hours to london. I rang the RAH and asked about refunding tickets to which i have been told CDS do not offer refunds only exchange. I cannot exchange them as i dont know when she will be upto going and have no other consecionary people to give them to. I also cannot afford to loose the money. Can they refuse to give a refund even if i can provide medical evidence asto why we she cant go? And advice welcomed thanks

Can you not ask them if you are able to exchange them for a show in say 6 months?

Unfortunately there is no right to a refund on medical grounds, they are being generous allowing you to change the dates.

If you have travel insurance it may be worth seeing if you are covered but an existing medical condition probably won't be and the excess for a claim may be more than the cost of the tickets.

But if there was no op then you would be going and would not have the money anyway?

Just put them on Stubhub or Getmein.

You have no rights to a refund, for medical reasons or any other.

Thanks for stating the obvious. My point was as she cannot go now due to the Op. I will still have to replace her present, as why should she loose out on a pressie. So then i will be £112 down the drain plus buying a new present, As no-one will be using the tickets the seats will be also be empty so not good for the show either,

They've offered to change the dates for the show, just ask if they can be quite far ahead rather than for a week after.

Yes and i appreciate them trying to be flexible as i told the lady at RAH this morning. However it is only on till feb 26th and i know this will not be long enough for her to be able to go. I merely asked the question as i wasnt sure if they could on medical grounds. However as has been stated several times it appears they cant. So il just have to suck up the Loss. Thank you anyway
