Which Samsung TV, LCD or Plasma?

I'm looking to buy a new tv and initially had thought about getting plasma, (due to it's apparent better quality with black colour and less screen drag).
The one's I've seen are Samsung PS42Q96HD, £699 in Dixons, here

however I've also noticed a Samsung LCD TV for £860 with 1080 pixels here

the LCD tv is the newer model, and this is reflected in price and the amount of screen pixels, and both are in my budget, but what is the concensous on which would be the better purchase.
(I have a freind who has a Sony LCD and screen drag especially when watching footy is quite bad, whereas another freind has Pioneer plasma and his TV does not have this problem, both these tv's are over one year old though, so the technology may have caught up with each other)

I'm going to have a look at both in the shop today before making a decision.0

If I had the choice I'd go for LCD, it's longer lasting technology, but the avforums above will give better advice.
Plasma was once the only was to get large "flat screens" but now LCDs are rapidly replacing them, the image is slightly different between the two, and I believe (might have to check!) that plasma degrade with age getting less bright etc...
I'd check the panels response time, usually listed someone in milliseconds (ms), the faster the response time (lower ms), the better it will be for moving sport and fast action sequences.0
