Large Chest Freezer - turn off?

I have a large chest freezer that is now pretty much empty. I dont actually use it that much. No point keeping it on wasting electricity when nothing in it really. Are they power hungry?

Its a modern Zanussi one, can I just turn this off at the wall, or is there a specific way you should do it?

Freezers work better when full. If you turn it off, any food that is in there will (gradually) defrost.

If you're going to be not using it for a while, prop the lid open a bit or give it a very good clean to avoid smells.
