, Hi Guys, got a problem with conectivity to my HP 3050a all in one printer.
Added a new router from Talk Talk, and now cannot print via USB or connect via Wifi , even I-pad npt picking printer wifi signal up?.
new router not showing printer in wifi, shows pc and i-pad, also doesn.t show my kindle, which works Wifi, to download? but another, which I don,t recognise",E0-CB-1D-03-9C-35-Wireless" which could be kindle, or printer??.?.
old one showed all 4, by name ?
Although I can copy, print a copy, etc, via USB, I cannot print a Picture or doc or e-mail.
It keeps saying, " no connectivity".
If so, how can I print diagnostic page, copy and print via USB, check ink levels etc??
I cannot see router being the cause, as USB is just Plug and play.
Never had this before.
Any advice appreciated.Sorry if it,s vague

If you still have the original installation discs for the printer, go to Printers via the control panel, delete it and add it using the original discs. Select connect via Wi-Fi when adding the "new" printer.

    Thanks Le Kirk.
Before I do that;;I have selected USB in my printer , not my network.
Shouldn,t USB work, without wifi, this way.?
    always has done
it has conectivity for diagnostics from printer to pc, and copy and print from pc,
    ink levels
so surely that shows conectivity from pc to printer?
Not really bothered for Wifi at present,E0-CB-1D-03-9C-35-Wireless, this is showing in devices on router, not sure what it is?
Kindle or Printer, don,t recognise it.
USB is just plug /Play isn,t it?

    Hi

Just to reinforce the answer given above...

To set up the printer on a wireless network, install the print driver, and then temporarily connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer. This allows the printer to gather the necessary wireless information from the computer.
NB: As an alternative method to downloading the software, you can use the installation CD.

  • as printer was working before new router you should just need to go into printer setting and update with new router. goto setting on front of printer and will just need to change the network settings with new router name/password

    pS.
When I logged into new router, it recommended I change router password, which is on the bottom of the router,(not wifi one, )to something I prefer.
It,s always been admin.admin, but they now give a different PW.
    Username still admin
    Admin admin was generic
    Are new PW,s also generic?
If so, why change from admin?
Even though they say it,s secure, would it be wise to change it.
    Never changed one before!
Wouldn't,t have known unless I logged into router, not in their set up booklet.

It is a good idea to change the default password on your router.
    belt and braces etc.

Also, while you are in there, i would STRONGLY advise you to disable WPS.
With WPS enabled your wifi network is easily hackable, it still boggles me as to why this is enabled out of the box.

thanks Andy, I recall you saying that a while back.
I would have thought wifi PW was more suspect to hacking than router PW?
Not sure how to do it, or what Wps is really?
    Rarely venture into router.
Last time it was for strange unwanted gouty foot pics on I pad, if you recall?
    Thought router was hacked then!
Is there any protocol on passwords. Used?

    Ha i remember that !! :)

You will most likely never get hacked, im not trying to scaremonger ..

    But ...

The Chinese (amongst others) do have automated scripts scanning IP addresses looking for log on pages.
If you are unlucky enough to be sniffed and you have default credentials on your router then you have no defence.
Its akin to a robber walking down the street trying everyones front doors.

In a way, this is more likely because it isnt targeted. The attacker just sets up his "bot" and then leaves it running - he can be on a different continent to you.

To crack your wifi, i have to be in range of your wifi signal, so this is only likely to happen if you live next door to a hacker, or someone is actively targeting you and is parked outside your house with a laptop.

WPS is "wifi protected setup" - its basically an easy way to connect a new device to your network.
But it is very badly flawed (I will explain if you need me to but its very boring)

Suffice to say, with it enabled (like it is by default), it is an absolute breeze to crack your wifi password.
With it disabled, it would be an absolute nightmare to crack your wifi password (Unless it was WEP, but that is another story and hardly anyone has a wep key anymore).

As for password protocol, long and complex is best - there have been other threads on this and id rather let you do your own research and decide on a suitable solution for you, rather than advise on this

WPS is "wireless pushbutton service" - its basically an easy way to connect a new device to your network.

    thanks for that Andy.
Just read about Wps, says it allows others to connect to my wifi, "without" UN or PW, but, when the kids come, and want to use my wifi, they have to input my wifi, PW from the card.?
Sometimes, if they have already used it,, which most have, iPad,I phone, there device will remember it and auto log them in!
Not now the router has been changed:)
I know piggy in the middle is one way, as you say, sitting outside?.?
If it,s a security risk, why is it on by default?
Like you say, it doesn,t make sense?
Or if Wps is off, does that mean, I have to put UN and PW every time I require wifi?
Will log in tomorrow and change default router PW, and see what Wps is there.
