Good morning everyone :hello:
It's very damp here this morning but there is no need for the heating to go on yet as it is very mild. Hubby and the girls have left for work/school and I am having a morning of wrapping presents. I keep thinking I have finished and then something else catches my eye. Anyway, I have finished buying now so will have to wait for deliveries this week.
I am going to make a corned beef plate pasty for tea, we haven't had one for ages and I need to use up some cupboard stuff. Tomorrow it is going to be Spanish chicken and roast veg on the menu.
I was supposed to be going out today with my lovely CMHT lady but I am going to cancel as it will be too crowded and busy for me. I am sure she won't mind just coming over for a cup of tea and a chat instead.
Hugs to all the worried and poorlies, hope you all soon feel better x
Right, the Christmas music is going on and I am about to disappear under a pile of cardboard boxes and sticky tape. Take care xx0 -
Today's the day - DH will be having the stent removed, he can't wait and is eager to get back to the office. He's been working from home but his days become topsy turvy because he works until the early hours.
I started writing the cards but got side tracked by some sewing, I must finish them today and get them posted. I also need to start wrapping, my DiL wraps presents beautifully, she puts me to shame and every ear I vow to take more care but it's not a task I enjoy.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Have just got back from an abortive visit to the local hairdresser, appointment for 9 am. no sign of her by 9.10, so I came home. Not happy. Will not use her again.
The forecast was fog, so we woke to a frost!! its quite cold, but it was not a hard frost. I looked out of the window and the heating engineers van was outside our neighbours. I do not envy her getting the heating put in now!! We are warm and cosy here, I have kept the heating on for a bit.
Towels to go on the line for a bit of fresh air. Monday clean needs doing, so will be up and at it shortly.
I had a bad day yesterday, not sure what was wrong, but did not feel right until well after 4 pm. Then what ever it was cleared away. I have an appointment with the Dr tomorrow afternoon to hopefully get my tablets, all I need is for them to tell me my kidney function is up the pole and I cannot have the medication!!
OH has his jigsaw on the table in the kitchen, I am off to hang the towels out whilst the sun is shining.0 -
Thank you all, had nearly a couple of hours sleep and feel a bit better. Thank you also for the well wishes about my trip.
TA thank you for reassuring me and reminding me that people do get out of toxic psycho relationships, I keep praying that DD will do one day.
Cleaner is in and DH dealing with things. I won't get up until I rely must, around noon. Hot cup of tea and a book will see me better by then I hope.
xxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Good Morning chums, very mild and the sun has come out -just-
We went to the cemetery Yesterday and laid some flowers and a fir wreath for my brother and my Mum and boy was it nippy,I had a feeling that I was getting DGS Mikey's cold and sure enough by last night I was feeling decidedly cold and shivery.Never even stayed for dinner last night, came home and was tucked up in bed by 7.00 pm. Had a dreadful night coughing and spluttering and this morning can't stop sneezing.
Went to the post office and sent off the last of my cards and picked up my presciption from the Drs.
I was supposed to go to book club this morning as we had a small xmas party arranged but I decided the keep my germs to myself and not share them with my friends so texted my apologies. No one needs colds at this time of the year when its so busy.Dosing myself up with hot drinks of bovril and paracetamols, fingers crossed I can get rid of it pretty quickly.
<<Hugs >> to all who need one and enjoy your trip back to Italy Caterina
Cheers chums
A rather sneezy JackieO xx0 -
thankyou JackieO x
Very quick entry to share joy and relief YIPPEE I have finally submitted my last bit of tax return, closed the mystery shop business on 31/10/15 but not done anything about tax yet. Net profit £194! Great, no tax to pay!
AND done the luggage. One-woman-tornado, that's me today LOL
Have a really good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Caterina I feel your pain; I'm also the sort of person who lies awake all night with everything going round and round in my head, and end up too tired to sleep, iyswim.
I have once again resorted to valerian tablets, in the hope of getting a bit of rest.
No decs up here yet; Mr LW has to get them out of the loft, as I can't get up there. Tbh, I really cba, and won't be worried if we don't put any up this year.
Mr LW is currently sitting watching "Ice Age" yet again. I am gradually losing the will to live!! :wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Evening all
Delurks to say yes retirement can get a bit samey in Winter when the weather is bad. DH goes up in the loft to play trains.....
Just a question-anybody have this? My DH has been refused a hernia repair operation by the NHS. His GP is appealing the decision but I am quite concerned as it is impacting quite a bit on his daily life. We pick up DGS 2 and a half from nursery twice a week and I cannot lift him out of the car seat and it hurts DH to do so.
Thoughts anyone?

That's crazy, Gintot.
What are their grounds for refusal? Do they realise he's having to lift a small child about? I hope your GP is successful in appealing the decision, I really do.

Gintotmelinda I was referred by my doctor for an urgent D&C following a heavy bleed and a scan that showed thickened endometrium. It was refused! No reason given. It took me nearly 6 months and a lot of stress. If it had been cancerous I could have died waiting. My doctor appealed and finally I got a second scan and the op. Weirdly, once the ball started rolling I got referred to two different hospitals on two different days!
The state of the NHS is in a terrible mess, unfortunately. I wouldn't be surprised if jobsworths in admin just refuse random treatments to meet targets. Good that your GP is fighting it, best wishes for a positive resolution.
Incidentally, I read an article by A.A. Gill (RIP) who passed away a few days ago. He wrote his last article about cancer and the NHS, the statistics for survival in the UK are the lowest in Europe, in spite of having top oncologists and state of the art research and equipment. The reason? Because of the delays in referral. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
