O/S Daily Monday 12 December 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now going to work and DS2 still in his pit - I'll wake him shortly.
Still dark, but the air is much colder today, dry, damp and dirty on the roads and footpaths at the moment still.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, peas, yorkshires and gravy - the only LO is a portion of cauli/broc cheese. Dinner tonight is fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
We were very lazy yesterday - we didn't go to the xmas market, and from the reports that I've seen we didn't really miss much, so kept our money safely in our pockets at least!
I'm working all day today, and have a day off tomorrow, so a short week, except that I'm working on Saturday morning too, but it's not a problem and the extra money always comes in handy. We will have a busy weekend next weekend though, we will be visiting DH's grandad and going to the Crem to lay the xmas wreaths, we also have to defrost the outside freezer next Sunday as it's really getting icy - DH has said he'll help me with that, we'll get the electric cool boxes down from the loft on Saturday and let them run Sat night, then they'll be cold for Sunday morning. I must sit and write some xmas cards this week as haven't done any yet.
Work will be either manic or dead - not sure which, we were quiet on Saturday, but we'll see.
Keeps safe and well x

Good morning,
Thank you nmlc for starting the thread.
Hugs and well wishes to all who need them xx
Carp night. I woke up around 4 and just could not go back to sleep. All the thoughts and worries are piling up in my head and I am in a state of perennial anxiety. From DH's illness to DD lies and deception, her unhealthy relationship that is estranging her from her family, to my impending hip operation, another health problem that could be nothing or could be really serious, to tomorrow's journey and my time in Italy...round and round my head they go, all the worries, no wonder I cannot sleep.
After writing this I will try again to have a little more rest. Today first thing I have the cleaner coming for a quick refresh for the houseguest. Then the guest will arrive and I am going to show her where the shops and public transport are, then take her around to introduce her to my neighbours so she does not feel isolated. Then show her house and cat duties and give her some dinner. In between all this, pack my luggage and get everything ready for tomorrow.
No idea what food I will have, other than breakfast is going to be leftovers from last night tofu veg stir fry.
Please wish me an hour sleep before staring my day, I could cry for tiredness.
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Good morning, still dark and pretty chilly here.
I have slept much better and feel more human for it. I am not working today, other than a little email catch up as I will have quite a busy week and don't want to feel overwhelmed.
Hope everyone has a good day, with special thoughts for the poor lies and worried among us.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -

Morning All
Glad you are feeling better AOD, a few days rest should see you right.
Hope you managed to get some sleep Caterina - enjoy your time in Italy.
Baa Humbug Gers!
Had a good day with DD yesterday, picked up the TV and then went and got a freezer, the car was a bit full! DD cooked a lovely roast chicken dinner, I got her decs down from the loft so she's happy.
Back to a week of builders, should see a big difference soon, hope so as I have visitors next week!
Hugs to all in need, how's your DM Lainey?
Have a good week. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
I slept so soundly, hardly stirred at all. Probably because I don't sleep well at Mum's place. Or it may have been the couplevof glasses of grape juice!
This morning I've got two meetings in Oban, do a little mooch around the shops and then drop in on friends on the way home. They live about halfway between my place and Oban right on the edge of another Loch. It'll be good to see them. I've got a couple of parcels to post too.
There's plenty in my fridge so nothing need be bought. I'll put the washing machine on before I leave so that'll have to go on the airer side when I get home.
Weather forecast is for wet and mild, this time last year we had wet and wild.
Camelot - it's all too much, really! Wall to wall rubbish. Now what I need is the soothing visuals Tru's daily carol. Perfect.
Happy Monday to all.0 -
Morning all,
Last day at work for me today :j roll on 4.30 today, I do have a nice long break coming up almost three weeks, I had a weeks holiday to use up so thought I may as well tag it onto Christmas.
Something with mince for dinner tonight probably spag bol as that's nie and quick.
Will wash my work clothes tonight and get them dried and put away so I can forget about them till after xmas.
Hugs to all in need, have good days all xx
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday to Topsy xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It still feels mild this morning even though the forecast was for lower temps. Still avoiding the rain too!
We enjoyed eldest DGDs choir concert yesterday and they did a good job despite quite a few members missing and one poor girl fainting through the second carol! They were all very professional and carried on regardless! Quite a lot of people had turned up and more chairs were needed but it was enjoyed by all.
DS came over with his cards afterwards and stayed for tea which was unexpected but nice. He ended up with the l/o curry and naans and Mr TA had a portion of lamb hotpot from the freezer. I settled on some h/m soup and a bagel. So the mw was working overtime but no-one starved!
Today we have Mr TA's pre-op assessment in Leeds and I am already dreading the horrendous journey, no doubt with trains and buses packed with shoppers. We don't need to leave until late morning but will allow time for hold ups on the way. By the time we come home it will be peak time and even busier as commuters will be in the mix too!
I have been sitting here with my coffee looking at the fireplace and I have decided it looks like a shrine, adorned with too many wax candles, moon candles, lanterns, ornaments, garlands etc! I am going to move some!! I hate clutter!
Have a good day if you can and (((HUGS))) to COXY, LAINEY, LWW and HILSTEP. Not forgetting the poorlies too as we have so many with nasty colds and coughs, hope you soon feel better. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Catering, I hope your visit home will be a relaxing time for you xxI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Morning everyone,
Dry here at the moment, sun is just rising and turning the sky red, watch out all shepherds!
Mum is not too bad thank you Camelot , at the moment the morphine seems to be keeping the pain under control and we still have a fair way to go volume wise, she struggles to sit anywhere too long as her back etc is so sore, she has an inflated cushion to use but with no flesh on her bones it's hardly surprising. The hospice nurse is coming this afternoon and she will reassess once again.
Like TRU our house is half decorated, put up a few bits yesterday but we still need a tree, we always have a small, real one standing on the hearth so it's out of the way of the dogs, hopefully DOH will pick one up today, don't think anyone feels that festive tbh but the effort needs to be made.
Really hope that you managed to get back to sleep Caterina safe journey for tomorrow x
Get well wishes to all poorlies, gentle hugs to all with heavy hearts x
Have a good day everyone.0 -
CATERINA I too hope your holiday helps to relax you and sleep better. I can sympathise as I am another insomniac with worries crowding in when all is quiet. Like you my DH's diagnosis and health being the main one. I have one less worry since my DS got out of the toxic relationship he was in with the psycho ex. Even though he is 41 he is still my baby and I hated what she was doing to him. Hopefully your DD will escape the unhealthy relationship too. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
