Hiya
Does it have to be matt black?
Depends on what you want to pay but these are all good quality..
http://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/hermes/shop/13,1,100
Nitro N200 VX Helmet £49.99 (Nitro is a well known brand)
Syko Orbit Helmet £29.99 (never heard of brand)
Syko Orbit Helmet - Black £24.99
Nitro N500V Helmet £49.99
FM Sabre Helmet £29.99 (have owned a FM helmet )
HJC £49.99 - THIS IS A BARGAIN! http://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/product.asp?ProductID=118&ProductName=HJC%20CL-14%20Planet
Hope this helps.
The HJC one stands out as a bargain to me it is a great make and was £100.I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something0 -

Please don't buy a £25 helmet - I asked this question when I got my scooter, and after the advice I received I read up and found out that cheap lids are the ultimate false economy. IMO you should set aside at least £100 for a decent one.0 -
Thanks Froggy. I really want a matt black helmet to go with my bike! I should have also said I am an XXL!
The HJC helmets are really good value - I would have gone for a coloured one if they did the Ogri helmet in my size!
Jaz I have been riding for years. Helmets can be a rip off. Whilst I am careful about what I buy recent tests in some of the motorcycle press have shown that low price doesnt always equate to low quality. The HJC, Nitor and Takachi helmets are all really good VFM. Then again I still ride in jeans and a jacket - as much as leathers may give you a certain degree of extra protection I come from a biking era where only Italians of dubious sexuality wore leather pants!0 -
Rednose this aint aimed at you because if you have been riding for years you'll know this anyhow. The thing is NEVER buy a helmet online, you must try several helmets on and find a one with a nice snug fit, if the helmet is loose then leave it, even if its the helmet of your dreams
Also dont buy second hand ones because you dont know wether they have been dropped etc.
Just some advice from my hubby for anyone who' s interested0 -

Eagle I am lucky - my head is so bloody big that even a XXL helmet is a pretty tight fit!0 -
The £25 helmet has still gone and passed the same tests. If it has a gold or blue sticker on then theres nothing wrong with it, its up to the OP. The cheaper helmets just wont be as comfy, light or maybe not as good looking.
I had a crash in a Takachi helmet (blue sticker) and it did its job very well. The FM helmet I have is just for karting (green sticker) and i have a KBC helmet for track days that one was £200 but its very good quality and nice fit.I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something0 -

Froggy, be aware though that a scam was uncovered recently where people were selling those stickers on eBay. My Takachi helmet is great and I would buy one any time again!0 -
I don`t know where you live, but if it is anywhere near the NEC you should be able to get a bargain at the Nov bike show. I agree with the other posters - do not buy a helmet without trying it on first.0

Me head is worth at least £400 if not more :-)
I agree with Jaz.
My advice is get fitted and find a make that fits you first. The £25 helmet has still gone and passed the same tests.
They all meet the required MINIMUM yes.
However some are defnitely better than others.
Depends whether you only want the MINIMUM protection for your head or whether you want to demand more.
Don't forget that you can manage without a limb but won't be much good if you lose your head. The cheaper helmets just wont be as comfy, light or maybe not as good looking.
I disagree.
I can't prove it to you but I believe there are safety differences.
The sticker (if valid) only makes sure it meets the minimum requirements.
Some helmets will perform above the minimum.
But hey, it's your head and your choice.
I would also recommend a good back protector.
These can save your life by absorbing impact.
The human body is not good at sudden deceleration and the aorta can literally rip out from the heart - good old cheery stuff for a friday.0
