Euro car parks (handling charges)

I have my appeal letter which was turned down. I find that the parking charge off £60 requested is subject to a handing fee if I don't pay using the automated telephone number.

£1.50 for credit/debit cards or £2.50 for cheque payments.

Is this legally allowed. The printout they sent me stating charges payable if I don't agree to the terms and conditions are clear.
if I choose to pay online I get hit with a surcharge.
this was an image of the sign as you enter the car park
Advice most welcome

Why are you faffing around worrying about £1.50/£2.50 charges when they're trying to get into your pocket to grab £60/£100?

Are you not considering appealing against your parking charge, because that's easily winnable against ECP - and then you won't even need to worry about £1.50/£2.50, cos you'll be paying nowt at all!

  • Already tried, sent me list of first part of the reg plates of all vehicles that entered car park at the times my car entered/left.

Person who went in car park parked up against wall of car park, exited through a gap onto the pavement and used a ticket machine run by the council for street parking.

this is the reason I got a ticket, as reg plate not entered into ticket machine.

    Appeal has been turned turn

We know - but now you win at POPLA. Have you missed the sticky thread for newbies? You would have to try very hard to lose at POPLA. We have template appeal points in post #3 of the NEWBIES thread. Best if you never said who was driving!

Am I the only one wondering if that person even safe driving? You don't pay at a Council machine on street for parking in a car park.

Well, it worked for me. I was surcharged excessively by a hotel in Blackpool and complained to Trading Standards. The result was that the surcharge was refunded and the hotel agreed to comply with the legislation.
