Scoping a replacement shower

I need to think about replacing my shower, but will be getting someone in to do it. Whilst I'll run past them as part of a quote what I want to put in, I'd like to ensure that I'm looking at showers to research, that my infrastructure will support.
Old house with old wiring and an OK boiler. How can I assess what showers may be feasible for electrical and water supply? ie what power can existing circuit take etc. Lots of different showers, just want to look at ones which will be feasible without calling people now to come and take a look etc.
Any pointers?!
