Purchasing genuine car mats for a Vauxhall Corsa E
Hi,
The last set of genuine mats I bought for my Volkswagen Fox, lasted years before the driver side mat wore into a hole.. I've now got a Vauxhall Corsa E and wanted some genuine velour mats due to the perception they will be as hard wearing.
I went on eBay and found a large dealership selling 'Genuine OE' mats for the Vauxhall Corsa D/E at less than half the usual price, so I bought two sets. My understanding was 'Genuine OE' is the Vauxhall part as supplied from GM themselves.
Fast forward a week and they have arrived with no GM part number/sticker etc. just a small label that says '005-0187, Vauxhall, Corsa D & E OEM'. The part number shown online in the eBay listing is UKCVA005.
The quality seems good but I am not sure if they are genuine? when I called the dealership local to me, they said my purchase price is below their cost price and so they couldn't be genuine. They quoted me over twice as much for a genuine set.
I find this very strange.. can anyone advise? They may have been a good price but I'd rather pay for an original part instead of a third party mats..
Thanks in advance..

original equipment OE, i would say is a genuine part and i would expect to see vauxhall part numbers and vauxhall branding
original equipment manufacturer OEM, they are saying it is the same part made by the same company in the same factory but sold in a different box with no vauxhall branding
if you are happy with the product then happy days just use them if you are not happy then contact the seller and express your concerns, If they are advertising genuine OE and supplying OEM then i would say their e bay auction is misleading0 -

Your understanding is incorrect. You do know that car manufacturers make very few parts themselves dont you? And they dont make car mats. They buy them in.
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer, So if Company A provide the mats to Vauxhall that company will also sell you the same part without the posh boxes and Vauxhall labels for less money. But They maybe one of several suppliers for the same part.
The part is not always the same spec though, it maybe cheaper because its made from cheaper materials.

Hi,
Turns out that the mats are genuine, made in the UK they are 'budget' mats - quality seems OK.
I was told they were not genuine by Vauxhall, but some of the same type of mats are on the Vauxhall accessories website.. go figure..
Thanks for your help with this.0
