Lloyds Bank General Insurance debit - but I have never spoken to them.

Hi
I have a direct debit somehow that is being paid monthly to Lloyds Bank General Insurance - the cost is £4.85. However, I do not recall ever speaking to them about insurance - my home insurance is through Halifax, and I don't have a car or anything to insure. Does anyone know what it might be for ? As it is DD, I presume it is something I must have signed up for, yet there are no records.

A general insurance policy.
Typically, this would be home, car, accident, pet from the mainstream products.
If you cancel the direct debit, you will no doubt get a letter telling you that you have cancelled and give you the chance to reinstate along with a description of what it is that you are paying for.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I'm not sure how anyone on a message board can tell you what your DD is for!
First port of call would surely be to ring the bank and ask.0 -

There is a fairly common theme on boards like this for people to be unwilling/unable to simply pick up a phone and ask, seems to be easier to post vague questions on here instead of simply ringing up the bank or even Lloyds and asking which can be done in 5 minutesSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
