Yes he did but it was over 10 years ago.
He bought a small house with the money but couldn't cope living there. He sold his house to one of these immediate cash for your house companies and got less than half of the price he bought it for. (He ended up with about 40k). That was 8 years ago, hes had to live off that money since.
He saved all receipts etc to prove what had happened and what he'd spent his money on so he could claim benefits again and they DWP were satisfied with that.
They aren't questioning whether he has any money left because he hasn't and they know that. Thy are satisfied that he hasn't got a penny to his name now.
It's only in the past 3 years or so that he's been able to claim benefits again0

            Aww
I feel bad for you. It's a difficult position to be in
If you can get him to a CAB that may help both of you
 Thank you.
Hes a really good friend of ours, Like part of our family. Hes seen each one of our kids growing up from being babies and they think the world of him and vice versa.. We've always helped him out where we can and he's not had much luck in his life poor lad.
I just wish we could help him more especially at the moment.
His mum's just lost her job too so it's like double whammy.
 Heart breaking, it really is.
Hes a good lad though. He thought his luck was going to change. Now it's all gone wrong again.
His mental state can't cope with it all.he feels like giving up.
I've tried to explain there's always another way, problem is he can't see it😢0

I'd second Neil's suggestion of getting him help from CAB / advice centre with the ESA appeal and the PIP form.
If you are able to accompany him to this appointment, and support him emotionally / psychologically through these processes it would be really helpful.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0

We shall support him anyway we can.
His Mum also provides a tremendous amount of support to him.
His PIP form has been done and hes had his face to face assessment. Just waiting now as its with the decision makers.
Our local DIAL helped him with his forms. They are such a great help but unfortunately have just had their funding axed by the government 0 0

He must attend the first interview. If he is too ill to do the job seekers requirements then he can produce a fit note from the doctor and be excused these. He must present himself at the first interview as fit for work as that is what he has been found. (DO NOT GIVE THE JOB CENTRE A FIT NOTE AT THE FIRST INTERVIEW)
If the OP gets a 1 to 3 months fit note, when does OP present it for JSA?0

Good question actually as he's just sent one in to ESA before he heard their decision. Hes not due another until in the New Year.0

I just wanted to say I think that the way your friend is being treated is outrageous and thank goodness you are there for him..Definetely go to citizens advice for help.I have a feeling everything will work out well for him x0

I agree it looks like your friend has received short shrift from every view point.
Get him to the CAB. They will help him fill in the forms, it sounds like this will be difficult for him to do to maximise the chances of him being successful without help.
I'm so sorry this is happening to him.
Can he get social work help as a vulnerable adult? It sounds like he needs some additional support. Thank you for taking the time to help him. It must be a nightmare for him.0

Mycleverbunnies and deannatrois, I agree, hes been treated despicably in my opinion.
Hes not fit mentally or physically enough to be in work, end of.0
