Those who are saying get a job I'm sorry butsrudent nurse course is tough. They aren't typical students they have to do placements which is a full time hours then study for coursework and exams. They also have to do written work outside of placements to prove they have the skills. Even when they are at uni and off placements it's still full time hours not half a day each day. They also don't finish in May like other students but finish in August and have a two week break and boy do theh need the break. I was one and I found it tough to do my part time job on top of everything.

Could you shop elsewhere for food.maybe go a notch down on food level or go to the basics range. Also plan your meals so you use stuff you actually have and also make a shopping list.

I'm sure it's not easy but many courses would be similar.

This seems to be a big issue for the OP and there is plenty of time to sort this debt out before repayment, as I stated earlier a couple of months of working over a weekend would have it cleared, not soemthing you necessarily want to do but if that is what it takes to sort it and removes the worry then it seems the best option.
  • It is hard out there, definitely when trying to get in when you are younger.
However, there are loads of work that you can do. Work that needs no experience.
The only requirement is to have a bit of common sense.

Look in to Facebook groups for Actors and Dancers.

These people are always in between jobs and need to pay their bills while always on standby for auditions. Groups like " The Hustle ", famous for offering 1 day jobs to hand out products, work on events etc. etc.
If you would manage to get these and do 6-10 days (evenings or weekends maybe) then you will be out of debt, your credit will be paid off and will result in a good credit score and a better cash flow.

In your financial situation you should try your best to stay away from dept as you are currently in a, according to me, financial unbearable situation where your income is the same as your outgoings, lets face it. 26 pounds is not enough to have left in the end of the month.

I’m writing all this with kindness and absolutely not judging you.
Please update us with your situation and hopefully positive updates.

  • Thank you for the advice.
The amount of student loan I get is a percentage because I receive a bursary.. no other reason, I have spoken to my course mates and they receive the same amount.
I am only in my first year but beginning to wonder if I can actually complete this course. I have 3 weeks off for Christmas and I have some mystery shopping and temp work lined up. Which is good.
When I go back I am on placement full time pretty much until the end of the year. I feel if couldn't manage a part time job. The workload feels like 2nd or 3rd year workload already. And the pressure is ridiculous.
I'm not entirely sure it's worth potentially damaging my health over, it's really important I eat proper meals as I need the energy for placements, I can't really cut down in that area.
I'm not sure this thread was entirely about my credit card, I think I am worrying about what I have per month to live on and the credit card debt is just a small worry in comparison.
Maybe it's best I approach someone at the uni for advice. If I'm able to get the access to learning fund I could even pay some of my card off with that, reducing my minimum payments.
