Sending parcels abroad

Not sure where this fits in sorry, cant see a suitable forum....

I'm looking to send a heavy book abroad to a friend in the US.

I could do Royal Mail but am guessing it will end up very expensive.

Any ideas please ?

Thanks in advance

  • try parcel2go and ipostparcels. I used transglobalexpress.co.uk to send a parcel to NZ recently, it went by UPS but was 40% cheaper than going direct to UPS.

Parcel hero offer good prices, I'll know how good the service is in about a week.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

RM is good for light items but over 1 or 2kg carriers are likely to be cheaper. I imagine that you are looking at around 25 Pounds.

If it's a book you can use the Royal Mail "printed papers" tariff, which is cheaper than normal parcels.
    Check online.

I don't think the price is any different but printed papers does allow the weight to go above 2kg. It is soon going to get more expensive than a carrier though. The price is £19.75 for 2kg plus £1.70 for every additional 250g.

The OP hasn't given us a packed weight or dimensions although they describe the book as 'heavy'. Can you give us the size and weight once this book is packed, OP?
