Club Lloyds cinema vouchers "don't work"

Over 6 months ago, I sold some cinema vouchers on eBay that were my Club Lloyds lifestyle benefit for this year. The buyer took about 3 weeks to leave positive feedback, but eventually did, so everything seemed fine. I took the delay to mean the buyer wanted to make sure the vouchers worked before leaving feedback - very sensible.

Fast forward 6 months and the buyer has contacted me claiming that none of the vouchers work and that they were unable to use any of them. If the seller is trying to pull a fast one, then they could have put themselves in a stronger position if they acted sooner, but I'm struggling to believe the vouchers have not been used after the buyer received them.

What would you do in my situation?

Can you not contact Lloyds to see if they have been used??
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    The T&Cs state this:

    3. If you select cinema as your Lifestyle Benefit, the Administrator will use the postcode originally provided to Lloyds Bank to identify your nearest Cinema Supplier. You will have ability to manually change the allocated Cinema Supplier within the timeframe stipulated within your Welcome or Renewal Letter or Email. Your final choice must be communicated to the Administrator no later than the final date outlined in your Welcome Letter or Email for new customers or Renewal Letter or Email for Renewal customers. Otherwise you will be allocated your nearest cinema Supplier (for new Customers) or be deemed to have chosen the same benefit and Supplier for the following benefit year (for Renewal customers).

Was the buyer using them at your local cinema?

Thanks. You get a choice of either Cineworld or Vue vouchers. I take "Cinema Supplier" to mean one of those companies and so the postcode is used to select between Cineworld or Vue (which you have the option of changing). As far as I'm aware the tickets are valid at any cinema operated by the cinema supplier.

I'll try giving Lloyds a call.

...and the answer is I foolishly switched the account in question about a month ago without thinking about these vouchers, which were cancelled (there's a clause in the T&Cs about that). I probably should have been able to join up the dots myself. :o

The Ts&Cs state "11: These vouchers may not be re-sold." so you were breaking the rules by selling the vouchers in the first place.

Call me a maverick, but that part of the T&Cs did not escape my attention and yet I was undeterred. ;)

In any case, this has now been amicably resolved with the buyer.

I apologised and gave the buyer a full refund.

I am amazed the tickets didn't work after closing your account!

so Lloyds have a system in place to cancel unused tickets? just seems the kind of thing banks absolutely would NOT have the system for.

These are barcoded vouchers with a code that can be redeemed for tickets. It would seem Lloyds is maintaining the database of voucher codes the cinema provider uses when the vouchers are redeemed.

I'm also quite surprised they would go to the trouble of invalidating unused codes when an account is closed (they say benefits "may be cancelled at the sole discretion of Lloyds Bank" in the T&Cs), but I was told in no uncertain terms when I phoned Lloyds that's exactly what they do with the cinema vouchers.
