Tom Tom 5150 power problem

Am hoping there is an answer to this as I don't fancy buying a new lorry sat nav this close to Christmas
Have had a Tom Tom 5150 for three years and it has been used a lot with no problems until yesterday.
If you put the power lead into the socket in the lorry you get the green light on the adapter or whatever you call it. When you then connect the lead to the back of the sat nav the green light goes off and theres no power. Wondered if it was the lead so I borrowed a lead from someone who has the same sat nav and I get the same problem so I am assuming its a problem with the unit
Anyone got any ideas as to a fix or is it time for a trip to Halfords. If it is a new one anyone got a recommendations on a decent sat nav

TOMTOM PRO 5250 Truck - £275 ex. VAT? If you're a trucker, I assume you can write it off as a legitimate business expense?0

Cheers mate, I'm not self employed or anything so will have to stomach the cost. Was using that Waze app on the iphone. Alright its not a lorry sat nav but it seemed alright0
