Hi can any one advise of that is the name of the tool used to open the bottom part of Kitchen units to access underneath the units once installed

  • If it's the plinth you are referring to (this is the long board that runs along the bottom of the units), this is usually held in place by push on clips.
If you have this type, you can get plinth removal tools:

or you can make your own by simply bending a piece of metal.

If you've got a laminate flooring tool that may fit or an allen key held in pliers or mole grips. If you cannot get access to lever it off try putting a screw in the plinth 1/2" from the top and a few inches from the end then use pliers to pull this. Before doing this check the position of the screw is hidden by the overhang and cannot be seen without lying on the floor.
  • The only risk with putting in a screw and using that to pull the plinth is that plinths are usually made of laminated chipboard, something that can very easily be damaged by attempting to remove it in this fashion.

^ If the screw is through the entire thickness of the plinth the spring clips will release long before damage is caused.
