Carterina- I understand about the horrors of Christmas and feel the same way. This morning the supermarket was heaving with people, some spending over £200.00. And then there were the bloomin male voice choir carolling away right where the coffee machine is.

Anyway, I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed your evening. Just being able to speak in your native language must have been good. My mother is German and likes to keep her laguage up though she'll never go back anymore, not even for a short trip. I go to Berlin most years and have got a date in July already in the diary.

    Dumpling - fabulous!

We're back from shopping. Mum changed her mind about Dobbies, thank goodness. Watching her potter through Wa*trose is so funny she speaks to almost every one of the shop assistants to get taken to find stuff. They are all so kind and patient with a deaf and demanding 88 year old.

Right, I've got a cup of tea, think I deserve it!
  • Afternoon, after the excesses of yesterday we are having less to eat. I did end up having two cream crackers with a small bit of cheese around 8.30 last night.

Woke about 7 45, decided to lie on for a bit, woke at 9.30, we decided to have breakfast in bed so muggins went and did it, should not maon OH does it often enough for me if I sleep in. It was 11 am before my feet hit the floor. Since then OH has washed the car, I have emptied the ash can and re laid the fire, dusted, shoved the dyson round the sitting room and kitchen, managed to catch my finger when I was opening the gate leg table in the kitchen, now have a swollen purple digit on my left hand.

It looks as if it rained during the night and it would appear there is more to come, the sky is very grey and overcast, glad we do not have to go out although its not really cold in the house.

OH has gone for his siesta, I have a cheese bacon and onion pie to make for supper, OH asked to have baked beans with it, so along with the onion this looks like being a windy house this evening.

Going to watch strictly tonight, I just wonder who will be in the dance off, all the dancers who are left are very good, its a shame that one has to go.

Right time to drain and mash the spuds for the pie.......cheers m'dears

I phoned dd yesterday evening to say I hoped she had a good time at the party only to find the party is tonight :o

As transport is being laid on she will not need to stay over with me so today will be quiet. Just as well as I feel a bit sick so am having a duvet day and staying indoors.

No one is coming over tomorrow for lunch so will have a snack and meet another dd in York in the afternoon to do a quick look at shops and have a cuppa.

Just hope I don't get anyone knocking at the door with deliveries etc.

    Hugs to all

  • Hello, steady rain here.
I've excelled myself, up since 1,52 am. Wasn't feeling great so came down and watched some totally mindless TV and had a doze.
Elona, thank you, I have been taking an over the counter cold remedy and hot lemon with honey, my friend's husband is a beekeeper and so I mostly have decent honey for sniffles. I almost never get a sore throat, I am more prone to earache.
I hoped that OH would drive me oop north next weekend to see my mum and take up the family gifts but he is suggesting that we go after Christmas as my mum is in her late 80s and stepfather in his 90s and he is in very poor health. OH says it would be awful to give them a bug and it is clear to him that I am not at all well. I know he is probably right but I am sad.

Other than that, nothing much happening here, I have not finished the Christmas shopping, haven't done cards, have not wrapped things up, am totally failing in the festive stakes. Also am too fat and a total and utter misery today. Moan, moan, moan!

Feel free to ignore, I just wanted to get the misery out in a safe place.

    ancient of days

I still have some wrapping to do, have not started to write cards yet, only have a delivery of meat and veg coming on the 22nd because the company e mailed me with a good offer.

I am still in my pjs, my bedroom looks as if I have been burgled , I have just been sick and I bet I am heavier than you?

Are you feeling any better yet? ;)

I hope you feel better soon and keep taking the local honey to soothe your throat. It must be rotten not to see parents till after Christmas but you can't take the risk of passing on a bug.

You are not failing in the festive stakes, you are very sensibly getting yourself better before getting back into the fray. What could be a better prep for the season?

    Hugs to all

Oh yes, me and hundreds of others. Including one dad who let his four year old son stand in the trolley and screech continually for at least 15 minutes. Didn't try to get the child to stop.

    One day we will...
  • Hi chums
well quite a productive day did all my cards, and the ones in the UK are all posted only the overseas ones to post on Monday. One to Cork, two to Canada and two to Australia and that everything done and dusted :):):)

Pottered about for the rest of the day, bit of knitting, bit of reading and a bit of cheesy TV.my kind of Saturday :)

Hope everyone is getting into the festive mood.I must admit I loathe the packed shops and the 'musak' blaring out.I am glad I am all sorted early this year.

Hope everyone is warm and dry as its been quite a wet day, although not cold

    Cheers chums

    JackieO xx
