And more importantly not very good at putting things right quickly and easily with minimal fuss.
Sounds like this guy had as much trouble getting things right as I did.
Luckily for him though it made a good story and the media got it sorted otherwise it would be hard to get them correct.

To be honest Jen,after spending 2 years and working with the ombudsman on a chronic billing problem caused by Npowers not fit for purpose billing system,I am all done with trying to get some justice for how npower treated my farther.
It took them 15 months to give an accurate bill.
Npower have refused many times to adhere to the energy billing code, and my farther paid 15 months back billing instead of 12 months using the code (my farther overpaid by 3 months and Npowers treatment of him was a total disgrace)
I think Npower should start adhering to the energy billing code or remove the false advertising from there website.0 -
Hi Stevegrass777
I know it may be too late to offer this advice but if you know a company is holding inaccurate data about you ( eg. wrongful billing, personal info) you can request that they rectify that data by presenting them with evidence showing their info is incorrect/inaccurate and by giving them 28 days to rectify. If they do not comply with your request you can notify the Information Commissioner's Office that you believe the company is breaching the Data Protection Act. They are duty bound to investigate your concerns. You can also apply to the courts for the company to rectify the inaccurate data and depending on the circumstances,. you can also sue for damages. Unlike the Ombudsman Services: Energy they are not a limited company and have powers to fine companies. If you look on the ICO website you will see that they can take enforcement action against these companies who breach the principles of the data protection act. This is a very much underused and powerful resource for a consumer to use and certainly has more legal power than, say the energy ombudsman. I am finding them very useful with my complaints about Npower and the energy ombudsman.0 -

That is very helpful, not for me at this moment as this case is closed and I don't want to revisit it any time soon, although I am very enthusiastic about telling others how bad this company is and especially new stories and new cases need to be highlighted as Npower keeps saying they have fixed the system and clearly they haven't.
But this is very good information for others who are having trouble with the very powerful but often wrong Energy companies like Npower and Scottish Power.0
