Cancellation fee

Hey everyone hope all is good, I have a question I cancelled my insurance and there was a fee (as always) I sat on hold to pay and after about 20 mins I eventually hung up, I received emails to which I replied saying please phone for payment and after a few emails they sent me a message saying sorry for the inconvenience they will write off the debt. I thought excellent till I received a letter from insurance collection bureau saying they will take legal action if I do not pay. I phoned the insurance company to query this and they say the email they sent was wrong!!! Do I still need to pay this as previously o was told I didnt

You can try and argue it, you've a valid argument as to why you haven't paid it.
Ultimately though as per the terms of the contract, you owe it.
If it was the other way round I'm sure you'd chase them!
If they've passed it to what sounds like a debt collection company then the insurer have more than likely 'sold' that debt, so you now owe the collectors.
Good luck, it's a small amount but the principle!0 -
If you kept the email that says they will write off the debt then I would think that would cover it?0
