Washer-dryer bearings - should they have gone already?

When the motor died in my nine year old Bosch washing machine last year, the (very reliable) local chap that came out to look at it had no hesitation in suggesting a replacement motor for it. He did say however if it had been less than five years old the production quality would have been so inferior to the old one that it wouldn't have been worth repairing. I went for a new motor option (£150) and was told it should last for at least another six or seven years, given a change of bearings when needed. It was an expensive choice for a machine back then, but I'm very glad I went for it now.
I was told that overloading a washing machine on a regular basis would wear the bearings out faster. I bear this in mind when tempted to shove in that last pair of jeans, as I can easily do ten loads per week through my machine.Val.0
