iPad Screen repair faulty

My son recently dropped his iPad mini 2 and cracked the screen.

Short version:
Ipad screen replaced by non Apple certified repair shop is faulty (screen not stuck at edges thus exposing all electronics inside).
I went to the shop to request a refund. They will not refund and are only offering further repair.
Please advise on my rights and what to quote when I see the manager on Monday.

Detailed Version:

Whilst not a really bad crack/smash, it was enough to need to get it replaced.

I took the ipad to a local shop who carried out the repair for £80 including parts and labour. An official Apple repair is circa £189 so the cheaper option seemed a sufficient saving even if the screen was unlikely to be an official Apple one.

I collected the ipad yesterday evening at 5pm.
Today at lunch time (less than 24 hours later!) I noticed a gap between the glass screen and the silver metal rear of the unit that it mounts into.
This gap runs the entire length of one of the sides and extend half way down both of the shorter ends of the ipad. This has exposed all of the electronics inside to dust and other possible damage.

I went to the shop to request a refund as the service I paid for was not carried out to the reasonable standards that a consumer would expect.
After a very long and condescending explanation why the repair had not done what it was supposed to, including asking me if I know how double sided tape works, I was told they would not offer a refund.

I was told that the manager is in the store on Monday and I could speak to him then about it.

Can anyone please advise me of my rights in this situation and what official bodies such as Trading Standards and consumer rights acts I need to quote when I go back.
