private lease car

wife leases a car privately thro lombard tricity so to all intents and purposes its her car - insurance is up for renewal ( presently with esure who dont appear to care) - is she the ''owner and registered keeper'' for insurance purposes ( we dont seem to have the reg doc so i assume the leasing co has it) - does it matter for insurance if the car is on a lease or not - any thoughts appreciated ( i know i could phone up insurers and ask ) - thanks

  • Also phone the Leasing Company to find out whose name is on the reg doc. They own the vehicle, but for insurance purposes it's upto you, the Leasee to insure it.
  • im in the same position

    no she isnt a registered owner and keeper, if its private it will be the company that will be the above two as stated, ive also insured with esure
