Hi Littlemoney, sorry your thread has degraded in this way ..
Unfortunately, as I said in post #1 this will not work - at all
Although they are rated similarly power wise.
But don't take my word for it, plug it in and see . It wont do any harm and you will see that the HP machine doesn't register at all that a power supply has been plugged in.
Again as I said in post#1, visit your local computer shop and get a universal one for around £15

Dell laptops poll the charger to check its a genuine Dell charger and what rating. If they don't get the result they're expecting then the laptop won't charge with it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Yes. I do it all the time. You can even buy heads to convert an adaptor fitting to one that can fit.
Just be careful of voltages in some laptops is all. But 9/10 it will still work, just take longer to charge if the adaptor is underpowered.0 -
If its any use my lenovo charger blew up my sisters samsung laptop but works fine with a dell
You would be wise to check the voltage you require for your laptop as some will go pop0
