Hi i wonder if anybody could recommend a travel insurance company to me for somebody who has medical health issues. I will be travelling with somebody who has high blood pressure and diabetes and i need to find some cover that does not cost the earth. The person who i will be travelling with health is stable.

Try Columbus 0800 083 9503.
I seem to have recommended them a lot on here lately (I don't have any connection with them) but they gave us a fantastic quote for annual multi-trip worldwide (excluding USA) at £77 and that included hubby's pre-existing conditions of pericarditis, 3 hernias, back operation for crushed disc (all going back a few years) and current condition of ulcerative colitis.
All other companies loaded for his conditions and we saved a lot of money on quotes that ran into hundreds of pounds in some cases.0 -
My HBOS premier Current Acc includes annual travel insurance that covers pre existing conditions. Its £10 per month.
You also get RAC cover, phone insurance among other benefits.
Same price for a joint acc but you then get cover for both , so even better value for couples0 -
Thanks i went with Columbus it cost me £103 for a 2 month travel to buy my fathers travel insurance. It is well worth though to know that he will be covered for everything.
Now just to look about to get myself one somewhere on the cheap.0 -
Didn't you ask Columbus for a quote for yourself whilst you were arranging your father's?
Before we used Columbus, we used to use Direct Travel Insurance (01903 812345) whom we found very good. However, they started loading for hubby's conditions so we looked elsewhere. You could give them a try or go to moneysupermarket.com/travelinsurance0 -
TomsMom thanks for your help. Yes i did ask Columbus for a quote for myself and i was quoted £67 for a 5 week trip. I am not staying as long as my dad. I have had cheaper holiday insurance than this in the past. They also could not insure my laptop for theft which is what i wanted. I will have a look at the moneysupermarket travel insurance page.

I have just taken out an annual policy with Columbus and can also recommend them. They gave me a discount equivalent to the cashback I would have received via quidco (16%) because I couldn't complete the application on-line. (You have to phone to get a quote for exisiting conditions.) I paid £69 for a worldwide policy with no excesses and 60 day trip cover. This doesn't include baggage cover as my home contents policy already covers it.0

I recently took out a policy with Ace Travel Insurance and they seem to pretty relaxed about pre-existing conditions - can't speak for how good they are at settling claims0
