Im looking to raise money for charity within the next 18months and im looking for suggestions for the challenge (ie run a marathon), please. Ideally something original, but all suggestions will be considered.

Not sure where you are but how about an abseil. I did one last year up here in sunny glasgow off the Fineston Crane . BIG challenge for me as I am terrified of heights !!!!! Or you could walk the west highland way (or local equivilant).

Look at something you're good or bad at and work round that. For example I'm a fairly good baker so I might do a bake off, but I can't swim very well so I might do a swimming challenge with hilarious results. Give people their moneys worth, let them see you scared and in pain or give them something physical in return. IME you'll make more money this way. Your idea of doing something unusual is great, I expect it'll make more money as long as it's not so unusual it's weird.
