I got a car on 26th Sep, I hold a clean driving licence but haven't drove in around 5 years. had my licence for around 23 years all quotes I seem to have are over a thousand pounds ! Which seems nuts.
I got Sainsburys insurance in September not realising that my certificate for 5 years no claims was older than 2 years and they want another £342 off of me from around £800 which is a lot!
anybody been through a similar experience?
I am a mature university student with a supermarket job of 16 hours a week so every penny matters!
Help appreciated

No claims bonus expires after 2 years (3 years with a couple of people) so you're basically doing 0 years no claims hence the expense
All you can do is shop around at renewal with a year NCB and avoid any accidentsSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
