If you are setting sleeves, I would do it with a regular foot and have the sleeve on the underneath. This helps with feeding the bottom a bit faster than the top. A walking foot will pull both top and bottom through at a matched pace, which isn't what you need for this."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Hello ladies, quick question, does anyone here do machine embroidery ?Loving the sunny days!0

No fear! My life is full enough already without the time consuming/expensive thing that is machine embroidery. Not afraid of tech, but there is that as well!
https://so-sew-easy.com/sewing-machine-practice-sheets/ this might be handy for the OP who said they were going to do some practice!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I'd like to join in on this thread please. I have just started sewing again after one of my daughters decided she wanted a jumpsuit but she wanted a certain style which I couldn't find anywhere. So I made her one, then made another daughter one, made my youngest a dress and a top and trousers set and I am hooked again!
I am having to restrict myself to sewing every other day as otherwise my house suffers too much.
I am looking forward to getting some tips and ideas from this thread for future sewing projects!0 -
MumofFour, housework will wait. My house suffers too, but I'm sewing for money, so I figure some of the time I can get away with it!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Many years ago a good friend of mine told me she found out how I had time for sewing........I didn't do any housework!!
Well - you can't do both can you
? Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I can quite understand how housework would suffer if you are sewing for money. For me I am happy to make things for my kids in my spare time. Today I won't do any sewing but I will make up for it tomorrow as I will have no kids at home during the school day so can do the housework extra quick first thing and then sew all day! Kind of like a reward for getting the housework done quickly!
I just need to think of what I want to sew next now!0 -
It's prom dress and wedding season at the moment and people are starting to get things in the sales. I've always found May/June busy. I took down my Google My Business ad, on which I was obliged to have an address, as I was getting people calling unannounced. This won't do, as my dd has CFS and can't be running to the door when I am out. Also I can only see one person at a time when I am fitting. I haven't noticed it any quieter without that advertising. I find I get better quality referrals from existing client base."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

That reminds me PurpleIvy, I need to alter my daughter's prom dress next week. I bought her a lovely dress in the sale back in February but it needs taking in slightly at the waist and at the neck. She has a tiny waist so although the dress fitted everywhere else, she needed a little taken in, but I didn't want to do it too early in case I had to adjust again. I think that might be Monday's job just so I know it is done.0
