Just thought I'd post this in case it helps anyone.
MalwareBytes has released MalwareBytes 3.0 which incoporates their Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit, Anti-Ransomware and Web Shields into one package.
If you already have an Anti-Malware Premium or Anti-Exploit Premium licence then you can upgrade to 3.0 and keep your existing licence price at renewal rather than have to pay £39.99 for 1 PC for 1 year which is the 3.0 cost.
If you have both, apparently you'll get a second licence that you can either use on another system or give to someone else, or just let it lapse (remember to turn off auto-renew!).
They also said anyone who holds a lifetime licence for MBAM can upgrade and the licence will copy across.
3.0 appears to replace the current MBAM software. You can keep using free but won't have access to the real-time shields, Anti-Exploit, Anti-Ransomware and malicious website protection modules after the 14-day trial of 3.0 expires (or if you choose not to take the trial).

She would always like to say,
Why change the past when you can own this day?

Just got rid of Malwarebytes - on account of the resources that it was using
Check for yourself and see ........
approx 5% of CPU and an astonishing 350Mb of memory - why should it require so much, when not even scanning ?0 -
I've downloaded new version of Malwarebytes 3.0. Seems very intrusive. I just want an "as and when" checker, not a real time antivirus package, since I already have Kaspersky to do this. However, they seem overly enthusiastic in trying to get you to upgrade.
Also reviews don't seem overly positive....

Just wondering if F-secure might be a better bet?...

Malwarebytes made the mistake of creating bloatware, uses way too many resources, bad GUI design, just a pain in the backside.
HOWEVER, there is an option, remove the software completely, reboot and install version 1.75, then login as admin and set update to NOT update the programme, just the virus definitions.
This gives a basic interface but is ideal for my purposes.
The most important thing you can do on your PC is to NOT use an Admin account, if your current account is an Admin make a new admin account, login to that new admin account, then change your usual account to standard.
There are websites that can infect your PC with a pop up ad if you use an Admin account to access the web.
The worst it can do to a standard account is put a few files in the profile, these can still be annoying but are easily cleaned. Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -
I wasn't aware of that, makes perfect sense when you think of it.The most important thing you can do on your PC is to NOT use an Admin account, if your current account is an Admin make a new admin account, login to that new admin account, then change your usual account to standard.

I've not had any resource-related issues with MalwareBytes myself. It does use about 300MB of memory, because it loads its protection modules into the RAM but I've not noticed it using much in the way of CPU.She would always like to say,

Thank you, all.
I upgraded to MalwareBytes 3.0. It absolutely will not work alongside F-Secure. I ended up removing F-Secure and defaulting to Windows Defender.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0
