Getting cash without a debit card

Sadly I've managed to go away for a few days (in UK) and have left all my plastic cards at home.

I do however, have cheque books with me, for TSB and Co-op Bank. I phoned Co-op who told me I'd be able to withdraw cash at a Post Office with a cheque and passport ID, but when I got there (and after queuing half an hour) was told not possible, though they said it probably would be at bank branch (there isn't one nearby).

Does anyone know what the position is? There is a TSB branch, but if I can't withdraw cash this way, I don't want to waste any more time.

Know anyone who could send some via western jnion and you go and collect it from the nearest WU pick up point.

A friend did suggest that earlier - so maybe that's the easiest way.
  • I can't see how you would waste that much time taking your cheque book into the TSB branch and asking them. In my experience banks are very rarely busy nowadays.
  • Banks will give you money without debit card if you have photo id(passport or driving license etc)
