I tried to open a 2% a while back (already had the 5%) - it seemed to go fine and then a month or so later, they closed it and moved the money back to the account that had funded it.

I wanted to try this as well, just worry that the one they will close is the one paying 5% interest.

Does anyone else have experience having both RSA paying 5% and 2% at the same time that they could share ??
  • Well my situation is that both the 2% and 5% are open and both funded with £500 - both for a matter of days.

Lets see what they say and can clarify the T&Cs (for me at least) but I have my doubts with some of the replies above.

Same for me and I had both a Regular Savings and a Flex Regular Saver before that. There is no problem having both.

According to another thread on here it was ok to have both and both paid 5% so this is very confusing.

Both paid 5% - very generous!

I guess that makes it 10% in total then ;)

It might be misinterpretation from the OP. I seriously doubt if anyone be able to get two 5% flexclusive regular saving a/c on sole ac. I tried to do it a few minutes ago and I got this message :

    "We're sorry
You already hold this type of account and cannot open another one.

What you might like to do now
    Choose a different savings account
    Open a current account
Return to Overview of my accounts"

But I took the plunge for 2% RSA after thinking it over that I have nothing to loose. I managed to open the RSA paying 2% a few minutes ago and got confirmation that the ac has been opened.

If they close the one paying 5%, I will close both of them and then reopen a new RSA paying 5% interest.

I understand they will still pay the right daily interest even if you close it before maturity date, so nothing to loose actually but might be something to gain.
  • I don't think your'e allowed one of each. The T£Cs could be clearer, but if this were permitted, there would be no need to mention the Regular Saver in the FRS T&Cs and vice versa.

You were allowed both a Regular Savings account and a Flexclusive Regular Saver. You can't have a Regular Saver account and a Flexclusive Regular Saver.

    It was.
But if you do it via online banking now, you should be able to have both 5% Flexclusive Regular Saver and 2% Regular Saver Account. I did it a few minutes ago.

Do it yourself online without any involvement from NW staffs for obvious reason.

The t&cs still state you can't though.

I'm not going to try as I still have options above 2% that I've not made full use of.
