Adding a 2nd bathroom into a 4 bedroom house

Not sure if this has been brought up, but can you extend the bathroom to make it larger, instead of adding an extra one?
E.G make one of the bedrooms slightly smaller and the bathroom slightly bigger (depending on the floorplan/layout, of course).
This way you still have 4 bedrooms (or 3 and a box room?) and a good sized bathroom.
I guess that depends on how much the OP is looking towards resale and how much just doing doing it for their own family needs.....
I know that where we live it is expected that a four bed house will have two bathrooms, even though some (such as our early 1850s build) didn't have one to start withNeighbours of ours who moved at a similar time admitted they were all set to view ours, but ruled it out before viewing as it only had one bathroom. Instead they bought a much smaller square footage 1970s four bed, two bathroom house further along the lane.

I think i too, would expect a 4-bed to have 2 bathrooms. Imagine if all 4 bedrooms are full and you're queuing in the morning for the toilet..!
If OP 'extends' the current bathroom to a good size (without compromising a full bedroom) perhaps they could also put a downstairs WC in without a shower or bath? That should be fairly simple to do (and take up less space, too...)0 -

Yes, that might work
At least we do have a downstairs cloakroom......even with only two of us it's useful to have and coming from a house that had four loos, I don't know how I'd have managed with just the one, lol!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

We rented a house with a bathroom upstairs and a very large shower room/ utility room downstairs. There was a door from the utility into the garden and it worked well. I really liked it. Children go straight from garden to utility to shower room! Great for dogs and when I'd been out gardening or came back home drenched...
So I'd say shower room downstairs with the utility off it0
