Hi
Can anyone help
I cancelled my 3 month contract with them August 2015,
I went in spoke to manager filled in relevant forms and cancelled my direct debit. Was then advices to let my bank know also.
This was all done and to this date, there is no direct debit for gymbox.
Have just been going through my bank statements and for the last 10months, they have been taking money out of my account which I was unaware and there is no direct debit arranged with or for them..
I've been in contact with branch, who are extremely unhelpful, was told I would get a call back last Monday but was told that she got to go home early and forgot.
Don't think they are doing anything and won't give me head office Contact and still this week taken more money out.
Any help will be great

When you say you've been in touch with the branch, are you referring to the gym or the bank?0 -
Sorry referring to the gym, that are extremely unhelpful.
And on my bank statement it's not coming out via direct debit but by normal visa debit- how can this happen ?0 -
So I think the question here is how these payments came to be made if you cancelled the DD & contacted the bank at the time. Either the DD wasn't cancelled or the business have set up a new direct debit without authorisation.
ETA: Was about to tell you to do a indemnity claim on direct debit but have just saw your latest update saying it was taken by visa debit.
Start a chargeback. You'll possibly be limited to payments taken in the last 120 days and might have to chase the gym for the rest separately. Or you can just write a letter before action to the gym.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Thank you for your help, just frustrates me that they have no authorisation to take money but are, which is what I am investigating.
Have checked with bank and was cancelled last year
Hopefully I will get resolved soon otherwise they will just keep taking money out 0 -

Contact your bank and cancel the continuous payment authority (CPA) - that will stop them from taking any more payments and you can focus your efforts on recouping the wrongly debited sums.
Were the payments always taken by debit card or only after you cancelled the direct debit? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
The DD could only have been replaced by a CPA if the OP had at some point given them her debit card details. It's not clear if the earlier payments were actually taken by DD, or all by CPA?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Can you prove you cancelled? If so a chargeback can be done for about 4 months worth then court for the rest if they don't refund.
If you have no proof you cancelled then letting it continue for so long doesn't look good for any claim you may want to make.0 -
Hey. You have to cancel via their online website, it says this on the membership form when you sign up, and you also have to give at least a calendar month notice. There is no paperwork for cancellation, apparently it doesn't exist and it's been that way since the beginning of 2016.
I experienced a similar situation with them, but luckily I caught it after a month. Definitely taught me to read the terms and conditions of things more clearly in the future!
I hope you got it sorted!0 -
