This is because everything is done by a computer and not a person. Makes me mad. I think I will go into the branch and appeal. And at least ask what I need to do.
What is the tool on here I need to look for?I find this board makes me spend more than I save!:rotfl:0 -

I have no idea. They kept putting my limit up but because I was only paying off the minimum each month also put my APR up! Think they put my limit up to 7,500 or something crazy, I wasn't working at the time so it was irresponsible of them. I transferred it and went to the ombudsmen about them, they paid me off before it went any further.I find this board makes me spend more than I save!:rotfl:0 -
Did you tell them you weren't working? Surprised they put it up if you said you were unemployed.
Find out the limit and the status of the account.0 -
Santander have a minimum income criteria, if you are unemployed then this could be why it was rejected.0

Could you contact Lloyds and see if they will upgrade it to a BT card?0

Did you resolve your unpaid debt issue from earlier in the year and/or did it make it onto your credit files with any of the CRAs?0

Because the car finance is secured. If you miss payments on that, they come and take the car off you, flog it and get the best part of their money back. No hassle - well, OK, very little hassle. If they lend you money on a credit card, and you fail to repay, it's a whole heap of headaches for them. Court orders, legal fees, bailiffs, whatever it takes. And for 3K, it's probably going to cost them more in legal fees than what they'll get back. Not worth it for them.
As has already been said - if you've got a good record of managing credit responsibly, no bother. If there's any reason to make a lender uneasy - why should they lend to you ? They are, after all, businesses not charities. They exist purely and simply to make money. Bottom line - if you look like you will make them money, they'll lend to you. If there's a reasonable chance you'll end up costing them, forget it. Their lending criteria are confidential, but that's what it boils down to.0
