Business Class flight to Australia.

I am hoping to go over to Brisbane again next September to visit family, and was wondering if anyone had any firm views on flying business class. I will be flying Emirates from Birmingham via Dubai again, and although I am not booking yet, have priced up the same flights as the ones I used in April. They are showing as £1100 for economy flex plus or £3075 for business class. I can get cheaper flights but at not such convenient times. Ok, I can afford Business, but the money saving part of me is questioning it. Anyone got any views on whether it is worth it? Emirates even take you to the airport but am I just getting seduced by the hype?

It's a personal choice, I wouldn't fly that far in anything less than business class.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Premium Economy for the non sleep sectors and Business for the sleep sectors.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Unfortunately Emirates don't do premium economy. Its economy or business with a bit of first class which is out of the question. I do confess to veering towards business, but then I might never go back to economy! I've done two trips in economy which were pretty gruelling, but could have been worse I suppose. Decisions, decisions...0

Have you looked at other airports? We flew to Sydney this September business class with Cathay pacific for £2000 each, flying out of Oslo.
Luckily we have local flights to Oslo.
On the way back we hopped off in London and flew direct to Aberdeen, dismissing our Oslo flights. Of course this only works with hand luggage, so I left my suitcase with my daughter, packed what we wanted in trolley dollies and threw the rest out! It was worth it for us I reckoned.travelover0 -
Our first trip to Oz was With Singapore Airlines from Heathrow in economy. However, Birmingham Airport is only 35 minutes from our house, and the Emirates flights on the A380 are great. Perhaps I should look on it as spending my son's inheritance on.....visiting him! Seriously though, I'd rather pay extra to go from BHX, but thanks for the suggestions. Needless to say that I will be considering all options before I book. Hoping Emirates will have a sale soon.0

Start saving Avios or some other frequent flyer programme and book reward tickets.
There is no way I would fly to Oz in economy, I would also be factoring in a long stop over in wherever on route. Unfortunately Emirates don't do premium economy...
It's 'not yet'.
Btw BHX has other flights. I'd consider Singapore Airlines via Frankfurt with a LH flight from BHX.
Or Cathay Pacific.
There's no way I'd do Middle East to Australia in Economy, just too long.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

If you're saving £1000 (each!) that will cover a taxi to any airport several times over!

I was being a bit flippant about the free airport transfer, as obviously that would be the least of my considerations. My main problem is that I can never sleep on a plane, and consequently arrive in Australia shattered, so was wondering if it would be worth treating myself to the upgrade just to get some rest and more comfort. I will be 64 by then and there will only be me as my OH wouldn't be coming with me, so can sort of justify the extra cost.0
